My Review:

Devon'S marriage to Ashley is one of convinience. In order for Devon to merge Tricorp hotels with Copeland's he should marry Ashley. Ashley's father is willing to marry her off to Devon. Later on, during their honeymoon, she comes across evidence of what had transpired between her father and Devon,though at this time Devon has seriously began to like her, like her bubbly personality. He realises this as he notices the change in her. Ashley tries to change herself to fit the kind of woman she thinks Devon wants as a wife. It was really sad to see her going through this, suffering.
Later Devon, after realising how much he hurt her, tells her he wants her back, her real self. The real Ashley. It was good to see this transformation, from a man who was only interested in what he would gain materially, to one who is hopelessly inlove with someone who, at first meant nothing to him, but a way to enhance his business.

Eva and Gideon are two characters I enjoyed reading about. They are flawed, and even though at first it feels as if their relationship is based on sexual attraction, it gradually changes as they get to know each other. Each has issues, and both are possessive of the other. Eva has gone through so much in her life, and she is still struggling with the sheer weight of what happened to her years ago.
Cary, Eva's best friend also has some issues as well. So both sitck up for each other and encourage.

I am really curious to find out more about Gideon, his past. I'm definetely looking forward to the second book in the Crossfire series.

My Review: Beckoning Light

Beckoning Light is written in two POVs, Charlotte and her brother, Kevin. 

Charlotte is a normal teenage girl, or so she thinks she is until events start happening, spurning the story forward sailing the reader through the world of Energo, a world completely different than our own, where Charlotte discovers things about her, and the nature of who and her brother are.

Kevin, first enters energo in seearch of his sister, accompanied by his uncle Monty and his best friend, Liam. - Liam's loyalty is astounding. Makes me wish I'd have a friend like him. Kevin also discovers who he is, and the power within him. 

I really enjoyed reading this story from the first sentence "We were flying over Canada when the panic set in.  to the last sentence "Don't worry Charlotte. No matter what everyone else sees, you will always have the afterglow."  The story is suspense and romance, a wonderful combination, and enjoyed the how the descriptions were done.

Alyssa Rose Ivy did a wonderful job with Energo's worldbuilding,  as well as portraying each character's traits. This is the first book in beginning a wonderful series, and I am looking forward to continue Perilous light where Beckoning Light left off.

Aliyana nodded as she released a breath and said, “Yes, as a matter of fact they did. Hank has demanded a tour of Mercado’s empire. He said that he wants to see the way they produce cocaine from start to finish. By so doing, he could point out their faults and help them improve production. According to Ortiz, Hank had the audacity to boast about his knowledge of the latest in drug manufacturing technology as if they were a bunch of ignorant ‘campesinos.’ As you can imagine, this rankled them a bit.”

“I’m surprised they aren’t going to use this outing as an excuse to kill him,” Cornelius remarked.

Aliyana shrugged as she cast a brief glance downward. “They actually mentioned that. However, as much as Mercado would like to permanently get rid of the man, he’s going to show a bit of restraint and allow the ‘pig’ to live—for now.”

“Did they mention whether or not Mercado planned to comply with this requested tour?” asked Cornelius.

“He is going to comply, but not in the way Hank intends,” she replied. “Mercado is going to take him much farther south, to a factory and lab he no longer uses. He is sending some of his employees ahead to clean the place up and make ready for their visit. Emil wants everything to look as if the lab is in full swing.”

“So Mercado is conducting the tour personally then?” asked Wolf.

“Yes, he is. He doesn’t trust Hank. Therefore, he wants to observe his every movement, personally.”

“How long will it take them to get to this lab?”

“If it’s the one I think it is, about three, maybe four hours. Why do you ask?”

Wolf brushed a hand against his beard as he contemplated this unexpected opportunity. “How many such places could he possibly take Morris?”

“I only know of two,” she said.

“How long would it take to get to other one?”

Aliyana shook her head as she lifted a shoulder. “Oh, I don’t know—perhaps an additional half an hour or so. That’s why I think he’ll opt for the closest one.”

“Did they say when they intend to conduct this tour?”

“Day after tomorrow. Hank is supposed to arrive at dawn. If you still want to follow the man, you will get your chance then.”

“So travel time, to and from is at least six hours, maybe more,” Wolf mused aloud. “The tour itself will take some time. What would you think, another hour maybe two for him to thoroughly inspect the facilities?”

“Every bit of that and then some,” Aliyana said as she knit her brows in consternation. “Wolf, why are you asking all of these questions?”

“With Mercado out of the way, I’m thinking this might be the perfect opportunity to escort you inside the man’s office so you can raid those files on his computer.”

“But we don’t have all of the numbers to his pass code yet,” Aliyana replied. “I can’t get inside without them.”

In response to the reminder, he allowed a slight smile to emerge and for several long moments, he held her gaze without saying a word. Her confusion finally gave way to understanding. He could see it. She drew in a sharp breath as a burst of anger exploded onto her cheeks.

“You have the ability to get me inside that office anytime you want to, don’t you Captain Wolfaert Dircksen Van Ness,” she spat.

Wolf folded his arms against his chest, flashed a full-fledged grin, and bounced his brows.

“I can’t believe you would withhold that information from me,” she seethed as her eyes shot lethal daggers into his person. “And you just let me keep watching that screen for hours on end when such a need didn’t exist—”

“Oh come on, Aliyana,” Wolf laughingly protested. “You surely didn’t think I’d allow you to go in there until the safest possible moment, did you?”

His humor did nothing to improve her anger. If anything, it only served to fuel it. She shook her head then and let him have it--with both barrels blazing--in Spanish, of course. And he enjoyed every minute of the delightful display.

My Review:

Shadow of the Witte Wieven is an original take on the paranormal genre. Aliyana works for the DEA, and she is almost wrapping up her case. Her case, to catch the Columbian drug lord Emil Mercado. She is working on the last minute details, collecting evidence which will ensure Emil's arrest. Upon completing this task she makes a run for it, only to find her source of transport, her bike missing. She hijacks Emil's plane - after kicking some butts along the way - and flies, escaping the guards and gunshots raining all around her.
Then something interesting happens. Without warning, the weather shifts suddenly and as she manouevre the plane, she crashes into rocks, losing consciousness.


When she later wakes up, she finds herself inside a lighthouse, and beside her the handsome Dutchman Captain Wolfaert, the captain of the Wieven.


Ms. Peterson weaved a truly wonderful story. The characters were an absolute treat.Aliyana is a strong character, self-sufficient. Inside that tough girl look and act, is someone  who is sensitive, insecure when it comes to promises. After all what has happened to her with her family, I emphathised and understood her. Wolfaert, is just as lovable, a strong character who really complements Aliyana. The Wolf  crew has a wonderful collection of characters as well, funny and loyal to their captain, and later Aliyana.


I highly recommend this book to fans of paranormal. It's unique and different, descriptions wonderfully done.

My Review:


This was a great short read. Karen Morrison weaved a story that is funny and suspenseful in just a few pages. She had me smiling at the end. The lead character was witty, her descriptions well done. Truth be told, the ending came as a suprise, which made me enjoy this story even more.I really look forward to reading more from Ms Morrison's work.

My Review:

Until Next Time is about angels. Amy Lignor created angels (characters) who are both fun and quirky.

Emily and Matt are angels, soulmates. They are sent to earth to gather knowledge/information,to better understand humans. They are assigned to two human 'shells'namely, Liz and Daniel. And in order to inhabit those bodies, they don't retain any memories of being in Heaven. Liz has had a hard life. One stormy night Liz and her friend Faith meet Charles and Jason, who later play a big part in both lives. Emily and Matt exeprience and see so much as humans, and partner until the end.

I enjoyed Until Next Time's unique storyline. The story is about choices, friendship, love, acceptance, forgiveness and quite an emotional story at that. I look forward to the second book in the series.

My Review:

I enjoyed reading this boook. It's told in Ismae's POV present, who is Death's daughter. Having lost her mother as a child, and the only father,(who happens to be human, so stepdad) she has ever known, doesn't treat her well and never has. He marries her off to a man who a man who mistreats her as well. Fortunately she finds her way to a convent, through a man who rescues her. The convent in itself is an unusual one, where girls are trained to be assasination. The story takes us through Ismae's journey as she trains, her first assignment. As the story progresses, one gets to see Ismae become confident, make her own decisions independent of the convent. 

The R.L. LaFevers did a wonderful job with this story, descriptions were done well.  I symphathised with Ismae, her life before, her life in court even though she was capable of handling everything herself. I look forward to reading the second book in the series. If you are a fan of historical dark stories, I recommend Grave Marcy.

My Review:

The story is told through T.J.'s POV, a twelve year old boy. I have to say it is one of the saddest, yet beautiful stories I have ever read. It opens up with T.J sitting in the hospital's waiting room, anxious to know his sister's condition. The story tells about the kind of life T.j and his sister have lived, moving from one foster home to another. One minute their life's going so well, you can feel the joy spreading through T.J through his thoughts, and the next, that life is yanked from under his feet, and him and sister are spiralling to direction.  


The really enjoyed the Ms. Welch unsual writing style. The chapters begin with the words "then, between, now". Ms. Welch tells the story about T.J.'s past life, flits back to the present and in between, all the while maintaining the suspense on what really happened to T.J's little sister, Angela. I cannot really express how much I loved this book. One has to really read it and find the gems within, experience the emotional rollercoaster. 


I highly recommend this book. I really look forward to reading more work from the author.

My Review


I've never read an of Jamie Carie books, but I'm glad I got to read this one. 
Gabriel, the Duke of Easton is appointed by the King to be the guardian to Lady Alexander Featherstone. At around the same time, Gabriel mysteriously becomes deaf.


On the other side, Lady Alexander receives word that her parents are dead. In desperate need to prove that the king is wrong, she makes plans to go find her parents herself. 


Gabriel receives word that it is urgent to protect Alexander, so he decides to go and bring her back himself. Alexander gets wind of the dukes plans. A game of cat and mouse ensues, with Alexander trying as much as she can to put a great distance between herself and the duke.


I truly enjoyed this book, the letters Gabriel and Alexander sent to each other.


One thing though - and I'm not sure it was explained. What caused the duke to become deaf? 


I'd recommend this book to fans of regency stories. I look forward to reading the second book in the series. Probably will answer some questions.

My thoughts:

The 5 children from the Peach family lost their mother a while back, and just a few pages into the book lose their father. Without the guidance of their parents, they struggle to survive as a family. Teddy the oldest assumes responsibility  Luckily Father Tim Sullivan steps in and acts as a guidance, playing a big role by helping them in difficulties they encounter.

The week after Pops (their father dies) the kids go through a lot, things one wouldn’t want their children to go through. The book is about loving your neighbor (L.Y.N.) acceptance, and learning how to stick together as a family. I enjoyed reading this book, and the message it carried all though. Love and faith can go a long way to healing  and providing strength needed to face hardships.

My Review

I received a copy of this book for the blog tour, and I have to say I’m glad I got to read it. I liked Ms Greene’s take on how vampires are created –The Ancient Vampires(Purebloods) that is. Completely unique.

Dmitri Arsov is a the last Pureblood with unfathomable powers. Many years ago Ven, his would be successor arranged to have him killed by Red Order witch. Thankfully for Dmitri’s ability to see the future, he played along, and let Ven think he was dead. Centuries later Dmitri decides it is time to claim his rightful place as the King, as well as claim his mate.

I love a good vampire story, and this one is good. Kerstin is a strong character, and stands her own ground. Oh yeah, she does faint once, but who wouldn’t be overwhelmed after finding out so much about things hidden from mortal’s world, as well as event’s that would really change everything? As she said, Ignorance is bliss.

 Mmh, I wonder who Ms. Greene will write about next. Hopefully Gabriel? Among the minor characters, he is my fave. He is just soo tortured. 

I’ll be sure to pick the first book in the series ‘Caressed by Moonlight’ and read Dorian’s story. He does seem like an interesting character.

Recommended for fans of vampire stories which have a healthy dose of steaminess.

My Review

First of all, points for the cover. As a reader who loves a good book wrapped up in a gorgeous cover, this on is right up there on my list.

Always You is a story about love, hurt and misunderstanding, forgiveness.
Lyla is engaged to Nick. Her life seems to be going ok, until Alex, her former ex makes an appearance - namely, them working together on a project at work - upsetting the life she had built for herself after their break-up, as well as memories of their time together five years ago.

Lyla's character is still hurting from what she thinks Alex *swoon* did five years ago, Alex is haunted by memories, and is still very much inlove with Lyla. And he wants her back.

Ms. Mudiganti did a good job of weaving the past through flashbacks, and tied all strings in the story together, ending with wonderful Happy Ever After that left me smiling, happy for the Alex and Lyla. I highly recommend this novella to anyone who enjoys a good romance. It's a wonderful, fast read.

My Review:

All I can say is ‘wow’. I have read a few historical paranormals, but none of them came close to Firelight.

Lord Benjamin Archer is a tortured soul, a loner, and lives with a curse. He wears a mask to cover what that curse did to him. Miranda can command, manipulate and control fire. Archer and Miranda meet one day in an alley as Miranda is confronted by some boys (Archer jumps in to rescue her, although she is capable of defending herself). 

Three years later, unable to stay away from Miranda, Archer offers for her hand in marriage, and of course Miranda’s father who is chin-high in debt agrees. Miranda has her own reasons for agreeing to marry Archer.

As the story progresses, we get to see how Archer adores her, although he is scared of losing her, once she sees what lies behind the masks. He’s also terrified of what his hands would do to her once he touches her, as he has inhuman strength. Miranda is scared of what Archer will think when he finally discovers what she is. The sexual tension between this two builds up, the longing, the desire.

In the midst of their attraction to each other, someone is going around killing Archer’s friends, and all the evidence points out to him. He is intent on finding out who it is. And so does Miranda. 

The characters, even the minor ones were wonderfully created, pacing was good. Oh, and the desperation, desire and sense of urgency between Archer and Miranda.

One of very wonderful dialogues, and believe me they are a number of them. 

 When she moved to kiss him, he cupped her face in his hands, and his gray eyes searched her face as if to commit it to memory. “Know this, there is only one truth left in me.” His trembling fingertips caressed her jaw. “That I love you.” He said it again, his voice broken, his arms pulling her tightly against him. “I love you. The rest is darkness.”

Her fingers curled around the smooth swells of his biceps. “Then let me be your light.”

Archer shuddered, dragging an open-mouthed kiss across her cheek to claim her lips. “Always, Miri.” He grew tighter, colder in her arms. “All that I am, all that I become is for you.”

I can’t wait to read the second book in this series.

I’ve never read any book from Victoria Connelly, but have to admit I enjoyed reading this one. Kay is an artist and Jane Austen fan, and a dreamer.- dreams of the perfect guy. After the death of a friend and she receives an unexpected inheritance, Kay resigns from her job, packs and moves to Lyme Regis, buys and Bed & Breakfast. She meets Oli Wade Owen who is filming Persuasion, and playing the part of Captain Wentworth. And to her, he is the perfect Captain Wentworth. Although Oli’s behavior is nothing of the sort.
Then there’s Adam, who is just a normal guy and adores Kay. But Kay has eyes only for Oli and tries fixing Adam up with Gemma, one of the actresses filming Persuasion. Eventually after Oli breaks her heart, she takes some time to think about things. And when she is emotionally ready, Adam’s there to heal and love her.
Kay’s story is about love: not seeing what is right in front of us until, that love is right there just waiting. I can’t fault Kay, because, realistically it does happen. Too blinded by what someone sees as perfection to see what is real.
Victoria Connelly did a great job with the characters. And enjoyed reading this book a lot. Can’t wait to read more from this author
