About Sara Olds

Sara V. Olds has been telling stories for as long as she can remember. One of her favorite memories is of unfolding a tale for friends while they were all bundled in sleeping bags watching a comet shower in the Uintah Mountains.

Mother of three: Large, Medium and Small, she welcomes her newest role, that of mother-in-law.

Life has taken her from thither to yon and back again—she's moved 22 times during her marriage. She breathes to travel. Longs to fulfill a lifelong dream of owning a horse. Is an addictive reader. Enjoys swimming, skiing, violin and movies. Wonders if she'll ever get to SCUBA dive again. And has found a calling that fulfills her in ways she never could have imagined—teaching history to—wait for it—8th Graders.

Her stories consume her. There's nothing she'd rather do than spend all day, all night and the next day conversing with her latest set of characters. History, adventure, action, romance, humor. Adults, YA and kids. Yep, she does it all. Looking for something to enjoy on a quiet rainy afternoon? Or wanting a pulse-pounding, stay up all night turning pages adventure? Or a you've-GOT-to-be-kidding romp? You'll find them in her pages.

Author bio:

Lisa Amowitz was born in Queens and raised in the wilds of Long Island, New York where she climbed trees, thought small creatures lived under rocks and studied ant hills. And drew. A lot.

When she hit her teens, she realized that Long Island was too small for her and she needed to escape. So she went to college in Pittsburgh. Go figure.

On leaving college, Lisa became a graphic designer living in New York City. She eventually married her husband of a zillion years, had two lovely children, and was swept away to a fairy tale life in the Bronx, where, unbelievably there are more trees and wilderness than her hometown. She can see the Hudson River from her kitchen window.

Lisa has been a professor of Graphic Design at her beloved Bronx Community College where she has been tormenting and cajoling students for nearly seventeen years. She started writing eight years ago because she wanted something to illustrate, but somehow, instead ended up writing YA. Probably because her mind is too dark and twisted for small children.

BREAKING GLASS which will be released in July, 2013 from Spencer Hill Press, is her first published work. VISION, the first of the Finder series will be released in 2014, along with an unnamed sequel in the following year. LIFE AND BETH will also be released in the near future, along with graphic novel style art.

Excerpt : Jett's POV

I cross to the area that Jett has claimed for his garden. He appears to be in the zone as he works, oblivious to everything.

"Good morning," I call.

Jett throws dirt in the air and screams like Em.

"Good grief! You scared me to death, Rye!" he exclaims, turning.

I try to apologize but am laughing so hard, my ribs start hurting. I sit down. When his surprise wears off, Jett laughs as well. It takes me a few minutes to recover.

"So, tell me, Jett," I say when I’m able to breathe and speak again, "what is the importance of a garden?"

"It’s the healthy way to live," is all he says.

"Hmmmm," I reply. There’s got to be more. Any other day, I’d probably ask him more questions. But right now, I’m completely captivated by his work – and his body. He’s always in a t-shirt. Sweat makes it cling to his upper body, outlining the muscles of his wide back.

Tracing the definition of each muscle would take me all day, but I would definitely accept the job. He’s the sexiest man I’ve ever seen, and the kindest. He’s pretty much perfect.

"You wanna help me, or just stare at my ass all day?" he asks, twisting to see me.

So, this is going to be a mini-review, because I am 70% into the story. My Kindle had some problems, therefore I had a slight delay in finishing the book.

I love D.Love's book. The story is emotional and romantic and raw!!! There was a scene I was reading while on my way to work, and dear Lord, I teared. And then another scene, I melted on my seat. It's a great book. D. Love did a great job writing such a realistic story.

I will finish this tonight, and put up my review tomorrow, or as soon as I finish.

Please bear with me.

What's up Wednesday (2)

Today is my second What's Up Wednesday, a weekly meme started by Jaime Morrow and Erin Funk. If you'd like to join this fun meme, please head over to Jaime's blog to sign in the linky list. :)

What I'm reading:

I'm currently reading: The Rules of Disappearing by Ashley Elston. I'm 26% in and I LOVE it! :) as well as Today Only by D.Love. Such a great story.

What I'm writing:

I did revisions for my NA/Adult crossover, but didn't manage to add wordcount on my YA. I hope to work on that this coming weeked.

I was really ambitious last week with my estimated 7000 word count for Read.Set. Write. So this week my goal until next Wednesday is at least 4000 words. *crossing fingers*

What inspires me right now?

Finally, it's sunny - about 36 degrees today - here in Vienna. No one is going crazy and irritated anymore..LOL The last three weeks were horrible. Lots of rain, which caused flooding outside Vienna. So uninspiring. So, yay! to awesome weather. I'm completely inspired, although half the time I'm on my desk with packs of ice on my head to cool me down. It's still something. :)

What else I've been up to:

Actually, not much. My Kiddies close school next week so I'll definitely have something to do. Can't wait though. Working full time sometimes doesn't give us enough time to enjoy each other's company.

What are you currently reading/writing? What inspires you and what else have you beeen up to? Would love to hear from you! :)

Teaser Tuesdays (1) June 18

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along!

Just do the following:

• Grab your current read

• Open to a random page

• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page

• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)

• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

The book I'm currently reading is The Rules For Disappearing by Ashley Elston

She’s been six different people in six different places: Madeline in Ohio, Isabelle in Missouri, Olivia in Kentucky . . . But now that she’s been transplanted to rural Louisiana, she has decided that this fake identity will be her last.

Witness Protection has taken nearly everything from her. But for now, they’ve given her a new name, Megan Rose Jones, and a horrible hair color. For the past eight months, Meg has begged her father to answer one question: What on earth did he do – or see – that landed them in this god-awful mess? Meg has just about had it with all the Suits’ rules — and her dad’s silence. If he won’t help, it’s time she got some answers for herself.

But Meg isn’t counting on Ethan Landry, an adorable Louisiana farm boy who’s too smart for his own good. He knows Meg is hiding something big. And it just might get both of them killed. As they embark on a perilous journey to free her family once and for all, Meg discovers that there’s only one rule that really matters — survival

My Teaser:

"We're in a van again; the kind that has no windows. The front seats are blocked by darkly tinted glass."  Kindle loc 125 of 3199

What are you currently reading?
